Here I am, Sunday afternoon on the 8th. I had been having contractions every 8 minutes for 2 days and was wondering how I was going to make it to our due date of the 25th. Regardless, we went to church and to our nephew Caleb's birthday party. That night we went to sleep. At about 3 o'clock in the morning I knew I was in labor. I woke Jimmy up and we started timing contractions. At 4 am we decided to call my parents and head into the hospital. We got all packed and ready. Jimmy gave me a blessing and off we went. My mom came with us to the hospital and my dad stayed with Savannah and Terrance since he was on his days off from work (see the previous post for the hospital pictures).
We got to the hospital at 5 am and got all checked in. The nurse checked me and I was at a 6cm. I progress pretty quickly and sure enough by 7 am they had the table all pulled apart and the Dr. in ready for me to push. In 3 contractions/pushes we had a baby boy!!!

They took him to the table across the room to get him all cleaned up while they finished up with me. I was waiting for a height and weight and details about him, but wasn't getting any such report from anyone. Soon, the room was full of people...I was soooo tired, but knew that something wasn't quite right. The Fentanyl that they'd given me during labor really had an affect on him, so he had almost no heart beat and wasn't breathing after he was born. The respiratory team came from the hospital and worked on him for a few minutes. They were just about to do chest compressions when the nurse gave him a narcotic reversal shot. After that he pinked up, started crying, breathing, and beating! (this whole story was relayed to me after the drama of course). Poor Jimmy had to watch the entire thing.

Finally, they brought him to me! I took one look at him and knew that his name was to be Conway Jordan. We had talked about the name before and loved the meaning because it means "Holy River Jordan" which is the temple Jimmy and I were sealed in. It suited him. He didn't nurse well at first. Because of his rough start he was all worn out. He has since really caught on and is almost back to his birth weight already! (day 8)
The kids came to the hospital (see the previous post for those pictures) and loved him instantly (Except Savannah wanted to call him Chico not Conway). Since we've been home they have been such big helpers and can't get enough of holding him, reading to him, and telling me all about his anatomy.

Here they are chillin' on our bed, which we all do a lot lately. Terrance makes this silly smile when the camera comes out.

The two brothers are napping and I love to join them when I get a chance! I have actually felt really great and been recovering quickly. I didn't tear at all and that has made life nice.

This is Conway's first bath (yes, he is in a girly hooded towel that used to be Savannah's). The things you think of after it's all said and done.

This is when we first got home. Conway's hair is much more brown than the other kids' red/strawberry blonde hair. Even though I know the word went out originally that his hair was red...sorry to disappoint!

He is such a good baby; sleeps, eats, and poops! He is awake more and more, but has really just been so easy going.

Here he is with his proud daddy. Don't we all wish our husbands could be paid for staying home! It was sad to see Daddy go back to work, but we've managed well. The ward, friends, and my parents have been so good to come every day and offer a meal, a nap, or some cleaning. All in all, we are delighted to be a family of 5 and will do our best to keep everyone posted on our lives and happenings!!

Conway Jordan Thomas

Conway Jordan Thomas was born Monday 9 January 2012 at 7:26 am. He weighed in at 7 lbs 5 oz and measured 18 1/2 inches long. His name means "Holy River Jordan." Kim and I were married for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple and Conway was born in the New and Everlasting Covenant of Marriage. As he grows older, he will be reminded of the blessings that stem from the ordinances and covenants associated with the House of The Lord. Because of Jesus Christ and the Infinite Atonement He wrought and through the blessings of the Temple, Conway can return to the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, clean and pure, and inherit Eternal Life.

What's the meaning?

We have been blessed with 2 beautiful children! When Jimmy and I were discussing names for our babies we wanted them to be meaningful to them and us. So, we made the lists of names we liked with meanings associated, then, when our beautiful babies were born we picked the name that struck us most looking into their eyes to see who and what they could become. Here is what we chose for Savannah:

Savannah Celeste Thomas

She is named for Savannah Steed in Gerald Lund's series "The Work and the Glory." In this book Savannah is a little red headed, bright blue-eyed girl with more spunk than most. She is incredibly stubborn and has unwavering faith. She is outspoken, and direct. When our little girl was born with red hair, we felt that Savannah was the name for her (if you know anything about our Savannah, she is much like Savannah Steed).
Her middle name is a goal that we hope she sets. When she thinks of her name Celeste, we hope that it will be a reminder of what she is living for, aspiring to, and the kind of person she wants to become. The Celestial Kingdom is where we all want to be together after this life.

Terrance Robert Thomas

Terrance has a special name. He is named for my father and Jimmy's father (Terrance Patrick Buhr and Robert David Thomas). These are 2 of the greatest men in our lives. Each with a million wonderful attributes. We hoped as Terrance learned his name and got to know each of his grandpas, that he would want to be like them. He already has a special bond with each of them and has since he was born. As he grows, if he can adopt the best attributes of our dads, what an amazing person he will grow to be! Strong, hardworking, having a great sense of humor, full of service, desiring to do what's right, loving nature, yearning for learning, and handsome to boot!

Soon we will be announcing the birth of our second son.... We will post pictures and a name filled with meaning for him and for us!!!

When I'm short on time I like to get some pictures up just to tell their own stories. But there is some big news. My sister Jen had their 3rd baby girl this week on Wed the 7th! Rebecka Rogers (Becky) came 7 lbs 11 oz and 21 inches long. She is sooo beautiful and if you'd like to send congrats or see pictures you can find her blog here.

Tiny tiny tiny update

I wish I was as good at updating as some!

#1. The end of the year! That means the end of my semester, to early yet to tell, but if finals go well I should have a 3.7-3.9!
#1.5 Jimmy should get the husband of the century award. He is such a blessing, stud and the love of my life. Still working as the NPS auction supervisor, and the Bear scout leader in the ward.
#2. My piano kiddos are having their recital this next Saturday! I'm so proud of each of them and can't wait to see how it goes!
#3. We are getting our Christmas tree tomorrow! I love this part of Christmas. My kids have carried on the tradition of the night we put up the tree, every one sleeps in the living room out under the beautiful lights.
#4. My sister Jen, my cousin Rachel and 3 of my friends Dezi, Aubs and Liz are all due in the next 50 days or so! I better get to baby blanket makin!
#5. The kids are doing great! Minus Savannah really hurt her foot doing ballet in the kitchen this week. She's still crawling or limping around. She is doing sooo good at school.
#6 Terrance is a stud. Getting bigger if you can believe it. Still at 18 lbs. But he is learning new words every day. His new favorite one is "FACT" from the kids history clips, if you haven't seen them they are funny (to me). KIDS HISTORY HERE
#7. There is so much to write about and so little time.

Introducing the newest member of our family!

Haha Gottcha! We hopefully won't be posting about the arrival of our new baby brother until January. Yet- After weeks of shopping, praying, test driving, researching and borrowing mom/dad's/neighbors cars... we finally got this van! We are hoping to keep it for a lonnnnng time, so we are considering it part of the family. (plus we paid more for it than any of our kids!) ahhh

It's so nice to have something! To go when we need to go! A car that works and can fit us all and more! I'm not so keen on the style of the front end, but when you go with out for so long you are glad to get a front end such as this.

I'll get some more pics up of fam and what we've been up to. (which hasn't been much considering we've been mostly home bound for a while!)

What?!? Preschool?!?

How can this be? Savannah just started preschool!!! Where did the time go? Just yesterday she was a brand new spirit coming to our family. She just was learning to crawl, walk, and speak. Now she is learning to write! Ahhh! Next thing I know she'll be borrowing the car and getting married! (Sigh) Well here are some pictures to commemorate the day!

She was sooo excited to go, had her backpack packed for weeks! What a cutie.

Poor Terrance, any time Savannah is not in his sight, it's "NANA? NANA?"

On a side note, we were all excited and in such a rush to get ready for school today that as I was loading up the car I noticed that my pants felt really weird. 5 months pregnant, go figure, right? Are you one that can take suspense? Not me, (Well and not as bad as my mom. She does her Christmas shopping and can't wait till Christmas to give (or show you) your present) Still, Jimmy and I thought that we wouldn't be able to get an ultrasound and have to have a surprise baby! Ahhh our Dr. is great though and called around till they found an affordable place here in town to have an ultrasound done as a favor! Hooray! Yesterday we were able to see our baby, all it's guts, brains, bones, and such! We were relieved to find all well and developing normally. What a miracle and a blessing! And the news you've been waiting for.... WHAT IS IT?!?!? We are all excited to announce that There is going to be a new brother at our house!! Can't wait to meet ya!

Hooray for having internet at our house! I hope that this will increase the number of posts and pictures for all to see! Thanks for following our very boring story over the years! (Not that we're boring, just that I'm a horrible updater!) Any way I am going to catch up over the months with some pictures and hope you guys are all doing great!

We had a special little girl turn 4 in July! She picked the cake and helped with 90% of it!

She is such a silly joy in our lives. (remember this hat any one?)

She wanted to go swimming at the big pool to celebrate the day!

On a less happy note our fence was trashed by a flying trampoline on the wind... It's taken months to get fixed but is finally done!

We got to spend some time in good old cache valley. Here is handsome Terrance at the splash park in Providence.

We all went to the Kennecott mine visitors center. It was amazing and had the kids not been so tired and hungry, it may have been a happier trip.

Where has the summer gone?!?

We have done so many amazing things. Let's see...since Jimmy's birthday we have had 2 family reunions, the first with my parents and siblings. We went to Idaho and camped for about a week, just over the border, NW of Beaver Ski Resort. It was soooo fun (minus the mosquitoes). My mom, dad, and brothers are wonderful cooks. I ate better in the mountains than I do at home! We went to the lake close by and played in the snow. The camp was perfect for 2 little munchkins like mine. Horse-shoes, shooting, games, and a camper... I have never never camped with a camper 'cause we all thought it was weenie (We camped in a tent, but my parents brought a camper in which we enjoyed some luxury). However, when we say infestation of mosquitoes that is an understatement! We went through everyone's spray for the whole trip on the first day! All in all a success.

Then we were off to the Buhr reunion in Logan UT. It was so good to see family. There were lots missing, but it was still fun. We went boating at Hyrum Dam, had a luau, did games, and as always had good food! The main downer was ME AND JIMMY WERE APART FOR A WHOLE WEEK!!! He stayed home and worked while I took the kiddos. It was the worst and longest time we've ever been apart...Wahh wahh wahhh, I know. For those of you that spend lots of time against your will in separate places... Sorry :(

And now...drum roll please... Savannah turned 4 the end of July, while we were camping actually! We had her party before we left at the Deseret Peak Complex. That was fun! Swimming, party, food, cake and ice cream. Thanks for the gifts everyone! She is super excited to be 4 and to go to preschool soon. She is so big and smart. If you can get her to talk to you she is a chatter box, just not around people. Not cause she's shy, just stubborn.

Terrance was diagnosed with Metatarsus Adductus. We are going to Primary Children's the end of the month to see about getting them fixed. Otherwise, he is just as cute as can be. Growing, chattering, and so sweet. He is cuddly and generally happy.

I go back to school next week...mixed emotions. All my classes are online this semester, yay! But we don't have internet...boo. So we are trying to remedy the problem soon.

Jimmy is doing great. Still working at NPS and really improving the auction. He is busy with Scouts and being an awesome dad. He is such a blessing to me and I wonder frequently why I'm so lucky to have him!

Lets see what else? It's hard to remember all the great times when I don't post more often. Well, I'll see if there are any pictures that I can put up with this update...if not this'll be all till I can finish another one! (not a single pic on this computer pertaining to the post. Just one I found online about Terry's feet). Sorry I'll bring my camera soon.

How does time escape me so quickly. As of late I don't feel like doing much of the extras. Getting myself, my kids, my hubby taken care of. Cleaning the house. (still unpacking). Taking care of the yard (when it's not raining or too hot to be out) Teaching Piano. I have a new calling in the ward (speaking of we talk in Sacrament on Sunday).... Fathers day... what to do for dad?

I don't know how people have time for things like TV, video games, hours and hours on the computer... I LOVED growing up with out TV (don't get me wrong we had a TV but only had movies) Now that I have my own family, we have kept the tradition and the silence is sooo nice. (no offense tv lovers)

As for the family... Savannah and Terrance are getting so big! I can't believe She'll be 4 and he'll be 2! We have been so blessed with good health, no one's been terribly sick. The kids are really starting to entertain each other which is nice, and not so nice. Gives me free time... to clean up the messes they made while playing so good together.

Now that we are in our new ward I am picking up 5 more piano students. I love it, but it is busy. Jimmy takes the kids on Fridays and I teach all day.

All my other family is doing great I'd love to update you all on them but you can link to their blogs if you like. Pat and Parker don't have blogs... so Parker is still in TX working border patrol. Dating a really nice girl named Michelle (whom we all like!) He really excels in his work and we are so excited to hear his successes. They will be attending the family reunion in July!

Pat and Heather are in Logan, going to school but taking a break this summer. Work work work for those 2. They just came down on their way to a camping tripin CO and it was so good to see them. I just love family!!!

Jimmy and I celebrated 5 years this April! It has been so fast, and the best 5 years. They just keep getting better and better! We spent the weekend in Salt Lake to celebrate. This is us on Ensign Peak. It was an awesome view!
We also took a self guided tour of the State Capitol building. It was so beautiful! I am amazed at some peoples talent for art!
We had a romantic get away (thanks Mom, Sarah and Meredith for taking the kids ) Enjoyed some Ruby River, hiking, history, and boondocks ( at which we saw my cousin Melanie and her family!)

But the best part was that I SURPRISED JIMMY! Never happens, birthday, christmas... he always guesses what he's getting and what we're doing for our anniversary on my year to plan... But this year I got him!! Whoot Whoot!
We always do sealings at the temple on our anniversary come rain or shine. (unless our anniversary falls on Sunday or Monday of course) So as usual we went to the temple to do sealings and had a great story about having to be home in time for my mom to get to her concert (she plays for the school choir). Ahhh then when I wisked him away to SL he was surprised. That in and of it self was awesome. The fun weekend made it doubly awesome. And the Man I'm married to made it the best!

Newest Member of the Family

HERE SHE BE!
Jimmy and I are finally home owners! (or should I say mortgage payers... Still!)
We are so excited! This beauty just really fell into our laps and closing on it went as smooth as butter on a bald monkey* for all you veggie tales lovers*.
Its 5 beds 2 full baths. Master Bed/Bath. Finished basement. Fenced yard. 1 car garage.

And had the cutest painted room for Savannah. She calls it her flower room.

And the Kitchen! We are moving slowly over the course of the month, but plan to do the big move after my semester ends the first week of May. The Lords blessings are continually upon us and we are so grateful!

Silence is NOT golden

So I am currently on Spring Break from school. Still, I have enough homework to last. On Thursday I was studying, and thinking... "hmm, I can't hear the kids. They must have tucked themselves in for a nice afternoon nap!" (yeah right!) I was on a good brainwave of memorization and didn't go check. Who knows how much time went by... and then Savannah comes running down the hall, growling.and "MONSTER FACE" WAS BORN! When I asked her why she would color all over her face she said, "Cause I wanted to look like a monster face!"
Then I go in the room to discover that MONSTER BABY was created in the silence as well...Not to mention the dresser, walls, bed, crib, bookshelf, exercise ball and closet were all monster-ized too!

Needless to say, we got it all washed off, got some swats for coloring every where, had a good laugh, and had good reason to post a new post!

For all who are wondering, Jen & Allen and the girls are fine. The earthquake didn't affect them, but still our prayers are with those who have lost family, friends, property, and hope!

Baptism Day

What a spiritual feast we had on Saturday the 12th. It was our privilege to attend the baptism of my Dad. It was such a special day, we had sooo many family and friends come we had to add chairs, twice! There was much exciton and you could feel the love in the room so strong. Not just our love for each other, but the love of our Savior for Dad. The program was as follows:

ONE YEAR OLD!

Oh my baby boy is one! Terrance had his birthday yesterday!! We had a great day with calls from friends and family. We celebrated here at the house on today with cake and icecream and gifts. What a cutie, he is now about 16 lbs and 26 1/2 inches. Not walking yet, but not far from it. We got him a forward facing car seat, but I think it'll have to wait till he' s a bit bigger. The last picture is just a fun siblings nap picture. You'd think they're related...

Poor Savannah. Just when one bonk heals she manages to get a new one. This one from flying across the room and crashing into the coffee table. She thinks it's cool cause on Jungle Book, Baloo and Baguira both get black eyes saving Mogley from Monkey City.

Death is not the end of life

I have been meaning to get this post up for 2 weeks. Due to school and a sick bomb that seems to have landed on our house, I'm late doing it. Grandma Dean has been on my mind a ton this 2011. Her birthday was the 6th. It was a quiet day, I know she was on lots of minds. Then my Dad, in honor of Grandma served up strawberry short cake for Family Night treats... (exactly the way she used to do).
My daughter loves the movie Testaments. In that movie, the prophet who gets stoned to death, dying words to Helam were "Do not mourn for me my friend. Death is not the end of life. The Messiah will come." That has helped me much during this time of mourning for my Grandma, she is not gone! She is just continuing her life elsewhere. I'm so glad to have had her in my life and extra blessed to have been able to care for her in her time of need. So to every one who knows and loved this lady, I know that death is not the end of life. We'll see her and be with her again. And not just her! All our loved ones. Family and friends. No matter what comes this year, the people we'll say hello and goodbye to.... I know that my savior lives and through him we can be together forever because of him- Death is not the end of life. What a comfort.

Savannah fell and skinned all the skin off her ear. (yuck and sad!)

Savannah thought it would be funny to give Terrance horns. So this was supposed to be of his hair, but didn't turn out very good. So i'll say LOOK AT THOSE TEETH!
We went sledding, we really were having a good time. Savannah likes to go down with out a sled. It's the only way she'll go by herself.

Can you really do that?

Hello every one! You may or may not remember me. In my last post I said "I'm going to school this semester and you probably won't hear from me" So here I am, the semester over (minus my finals next week, wish me luck by the way) And I'm going to recap the last 5 months. Now the question is... can you really do that? Fit 5 months of a blessed life into one post? The answer is simply NO! But I can try, so here are pictures (cause they tell the stories best). Savannah is such a smart kid. She loves to do 'letters' on the computer. Look she even has the posture of a smart kid. (jk) but she's really not a slouch.

Ahh the infamous magical drawer in grandma and grandpas kitchen. Every kid loves this drawer and it seems you get some sort of thrill sitting up in it... (don't you love his tie onsie)
My parents recently got a new washer and dryer. So of course we had to make a lovely casa out of the the boxes! (unfortunately the box house has recently been put on the market and sold to mister trash collector)
Ahhh Christmas! I don't know what it is this year, but I have been soooo excited about Christmas. I just can't get the spirit of it all out of me! It's really been months and months of waiting and planning!Here's our tree, even though it's not a very good picture! Savannah puts it to sleep every night and wakes it up in the morning... silly girl!

We had a wonderful thanks giving this year! I just love the season and being with family! Here are my parents and our delicious dinner! I couldn't love them more!

Pat and Heather got to come as well! It's so fun to see them and getting used to married life!
Savannah loves the snow! We've gotten 2-3 storms of 1-3 feet already this winter and it's impossible to talk her out of playing in it!
I like to call this one... summer's over. :( poor little baseball frog all covered in snow. He obviously didn't get the memo!
My 3 favorite people. What beautiful kids! I'm biased I know, and look at the stud on the right and you'll know where they get it from!
Terrance is getting around! He started crawling about 2.5 months ago! He is into every thing and loves to make/and clean up messes! He is so funny.
Every year on the anniversary of our meeting we go to the place where we met and take our picture! This year we've added to our little family! Thanks Jimmy for asking me out at the french fry sculpture 5 years ago!
We went to the corn maze for halloween this year. Savannah loved it. Till the sun went down and the chainsaw massacre, ghosts and freakos came out. We were lost. Couldn't get out. But we survived!

Sick sick sick! We have just had a hard time getting better around here. From pink eye to colds to mastitis to just plain sick!

Jimmy and I got a new camera so we had to take a picture of both of us just to see if I'd break the camera with my face! Ahhh happy mornings. I'm so blessed that my kids are happy morning bugs, most of the time!
I can't believe Terrance is 10 months old! It just has flown by. Ahhhhh what's a mom to do!

I AM A BUSY SLACKER! Sorry for the lack of posts. And here I am postponing another post. We took family pictures and we will have them some time after the 10th. Also we got a new camera and I haven't had time to put our software on the computer, so our Halloween pictures are not up yet either. Deseret Peak/ 7 Months and Teeth!

Terrance turned 7 months old! I can't believe how fast it's gone!

He is such a happy little guy and handsome as can be!

He loves to stand and is scooting/crawling around he'll pull up to any thing if given the chance!
Here are some pictures of our hike! Jimmy and I took the kiddos to Deseret Peak on Saturday. It was so fun and a ton of work. The peak is 11,035 feet and the highest peak in the Stansbury Mountains (the range west of our house) I felt very accomplished hauling the kids via backpack! Jimmy was the stud though. He had Savannah, all our food, water, extra clothes and did I mention a 30+ pound wiggling singing child!?!Here we are at the peak

Summer time...back to school

Here we are, a quick up date on every one! (I hardly find time to update our blog, I'm starting school this month and I don't know if you'll hear much from us till January!) All is well! Terrance is so handsome, just turned 6 months old. He is sitting up and rolling, he scoots along but isn't crawling yet. Loves to eat his veggies/fruits/cereals. He sleeps mostly well and isn't getting teeth yet. Savannah just turned 3!! She is so smart and just keeps me smiling. I love her little imagination. She can be soooo sweet, and so naughty too. She's been potty trained for year now and is such a big help with Terrance. She is so independent and doing so much for her self it makes me sad! We had her party here on the Saturday after her b-day, it was fun to have friends, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents come. We had a pinata which the kiddos loved. It's hard to believe she's 3 already!
Jimmy and I are well. Jimmy's still working in SL and I'm trying to get ready to go back to school. I've been going online since Savannah's been born, but now it's time to go back to campus. :( We got to go camping over the 24th. It was fun to take my little family because camping is one of my favorite memories growing up.

Grandma and Grandpa Buhr just got back from a trip to Cancun and their anniversary trip to Flaming Gorge. We missed them, but they had a great time. (Mom got to go to the Josh Turner concert and loved it!)disclaimer*** mom isn't really that big she has 8 layers to try to keep out of the sun!
All in all life is great! We are blessed! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true! I love my family! Thanks for reading!

I've lost my arm

Life sure is different one handed, Terrance is in a stage where he wants to see everything, go every where and always be with me. I'm even typing one handedly, so this won't be very long I'm sure.
Life is so wonderful, full of love and blessings. Pat and Heather were married a month ago and are moved to Logan (the same place where Jimmy and I lived for 2+ years when we went to school) fun! Grandmas services went very well. It was very peaceful, (except my Grandma Buhr choked at the luncheon and had to get the Heimlich! yikes!) I'm trying to get used to just having 2 kids, cause in a ton of ways taking care of G-ma was like having another baby. I love being a mom and it's crazy how fast my kids are growing up! They are so strong and smart, truly chosen! for the sake of time here's highlights from our lives for the last few weeks:
1. Jimmy took me to a Real Salt Lake game (no pics, dead camera) They won 2-1 over Toronto!! It was awesome!
2.ALL my family got to come for the wedding! It was so good to see Parker and I got to meet ,y niece for the first time!
3. I got my warts removed!!!! sick huh? 33 of them, on my feet.
4. I got an 8 place set of beautiful bone China! I cry just looking at it. We used it for Fathers day and it was wonderful!!
5.We took Savannah to the aquatic center and had a blast. She's a water magnet, where water is, there will she be also.

Who needs Pictures

I sit at the computer sometimes and don't want to update my blog because I don't have any pictures... But I decided today, who needs pictures! We are alive, blessed and well and people have been wondering who, how and what we're doing!

We are still living with Grandma Dean, who is struggling but hanging in there, for what we don't know. She's so miserable, on morphine every 4-6 hours and a muscle relaxer for her spasms. She is one of the toughest people I know.

Savannah is doing well (minus a stiff neck). She is so big and smart I can' t even believe it! I need to write down all the hilarious stuff she says and does. She sure brightens my life!

Terrance is great! He is fussy now and then, but as cute as they come! I love to see him making small milestones and it's so fun to be a mom of 2!

Jimmy and I are good as well. A few wrinkles and lost hair, but happy as any two people ever were. Sorry for the shortness of the post, but time is short. I love you all and hope to get a more detailed post out soon!

Mothers Day Weekend

The best Mothers Day present a girl could ask for is a cutie like this...
The only thing better is having 2 of them!!

Also this weekend we got to go with Pats fiance, Heather, to the temple! It was such a great experience and brought back many memories of when I first went!
Then after the Temple we took our mothers out for dinner for a small token of how much we appreciate them! It was soo good food and company! I didn't get a picture with my mom :(

Saying goodbye

There comes a time in each of our lives to say hello and the time for saying goodbye. For people we don't know well, these are 2 simple words. For those we cherish, those dear to our hearts, these words can be difficult to say sometimes.
I've been blessed to take care of my Grandma Dean these past months and it's coming time to tell her goodbye. She is 85, fighting cancer, depression, bleeding, fatigue, missing loved ones gone before her, boredom, dementia, and she's ALWAYS cold! We have agreed to hospice service which will be such a blessing. They will be a huge support system to us and keep grandma as comfortable as is possible with out medical intervention until her time comes to give her final goodbye. Since she's come home from her surgery, she probably hasn't eaten more than 20 bites of food, and she hates being hooked up to her feeder. So as of today, she said she doesn't want to take feedings any more through her GI tube. She's already lost weight and looks more gaunt as the days go bye. If any one would like to visit grandma, the sooner you can the better condition I think you'll find her in. Like the update in my moms blog said, there is no estimated time that she has and we're not making any official statements, but being her primary care giver, being with her, listening to her, she is so ready to go in her mind, she's just waiting for her body to catch up. Which it does a little every day.
As we get ready to say goodbye to this wonderful woman, I'd hope that we remember the great lady she is. The matriarch of this great family clan, a giver of countless hours/ days/ nights of service, a missionary, and a huge heart full of love for every one!

We have more memories of hangin out in my parents bed than most. So now it's fun to have my kids get to hang out on Grandma and Grandpas bed!
Hello one and all! Here are just a few pictures of what's been going on around here! This is Savannah with a bunny that my dad brought home from a guy at his work. The boys were going to butcher them, but the bunnies guessed their fate and escaped before the dirty deed was done. She named them 'mommy' and 'daddy'. Of course the big fat one was 'mommy'.
Terrance LOVES his bumbo and I love to have him sitting up by me where ever I go if I need hands my hands free! Savannah had one too and it was great!
Awww they are so cute, Savannah has been more interactive with him and can't wait till he can play with her instead of just lay around. She loves it when she can make him smile. And tells every one that it's her baby brother Terrance.

The never ending post

I have some time today to post! My Grandma is still in the hospital recovering from the surgery she had yesterday to remove the cancer in her colon/rectum. Our prayers are with her and I have some time to get on the computer for a HUGE catch up. I think I'll do it all in one post and in no particular order.

Firstly EASTER! It was snowed out, so we did the hunt inside, which proved to be just as fun. Then when it warmed up we did it again, outside! Savannah was a good hunter and it was a joy to see her having a great time. We did an Easter family home evening lesson and talked about the true meaning of Easter. She loves to watch the testaments and watches it almost every Sunday.

Secondly Jimmy and I celebrated 4 years of wonderful married life on April 14th! (Thanks grandma Buhr for watching the kiddos for the evening!) It has gone by so fast and just seems to continue to fly! I feel so blessed to have this amazing man by my side. He is such a sweet husband, an awesome dad, and the love of my life. I married up for sure! Here's to 4 and 40 more! (wish I had a wedding picture on my mom's computer for a before and after... oh well... isn't he hot!)
Thirdly Aubrey, Greg and Ty! We got to meet with one of my best friend a few weeks ago. Aubrey and I met in Virginia when we were both new freshman at Southern Virginia University. She was the star of the soccer team and the wish of all the boys! We roomed on the same floor 2 doors down and had a blast. There were 5 of us that really bonded and still keep in touch. Wish we all could have gotten together girls! Maybe at Lillies home coming! Thanks Aubs and Greg for all the fun!

Fourthly Terrancito! Our little man is just growing so fast (not compared to Jay) haha That's my friend Shay's baby who is 3 days older and twice Terry's size. He is just so handsome and the best baby one could ask for. His hair is red just like Savannah's, and his features fluctuate from me to Jimmy and back again. What a stud!

Trying to recap isn't as easy when life is soooo full! Life is wonderful, busy, and so blessed! I'm reminded of this every time conference comes around! Wasn't it just awesome? I'm going to post my top 3 favorite things about conference...
#1. You know those talks that are just for you?!? Sister Becks talk was just that!
#2. My favorite speaker has been Elder Holland for the last 5 or so conferences, and he didn't' let me down! It was wonderful!
#3. The music always moves me and I have such a special place in my heart for the spirit good music brings!

What were your favorite things about conference!?! Didn't get to see it?!? You can catch it here or wait for the May Ensign to come and read it there! We are so blessed to have a living prophet and the true gospel here on the Earth!

Terrance is offically 2 weeks old today! He is such a good baby! I can't believe how much he sleeps! Savannah was never a sleeper... He had a few days of eye goobers, but got some eye drops and has been doing great since. Savannah likes him ok, but mostly is indifferent to any thing but playing. We are all doing well here and hope this finds every one well! Enjoy the Pics!

Dah, it seems like every time I'm in a time crunch, the computer decides to be silly, I've got great pictures on a jump drive and they don't want to load correctly. Oh well. I'll just have to post again in a few! love y'all!

TERRANCE ROBERT THOMAS!

He decided to make his appearence on February 5, 2010! Here's his story...

Thurdsay Jimmy and I went in for our regular 39 week checkup. The heartbeat was fine, I was dilated to a 3 and 80 % effaced. I was only measuring 36 cm (which I had been at since week 36) So my Dr. was concerned that I wasn't growing like I should be. So he ordered an ultrasound to see if they could figure out why. The ultrasound units were booked up for the day so we had to come back on Friday morning. We found out that the baby was only measuring 36 1/2 weeks and I only had 6 cm of amniotic fluid (between 5-20 is normal). We talked with our Dr. and we all decided to be induced for a few reasons 1) I was only 7 days from my due date so the baby would most likely be just fine. 2) He was not growing and I was border line dangerously low on my fluid which would only get worse if we waited for him to come on his own. 3) He said that a lot could happen within a week, possibly a stillbirth. 4) It just felt right.
So we were sent up stairs to Labor and Delivery. We called my mom so that she could be on her way. My water was broken at 10:45. I wasn't contracting so they started me on Pitocen at 11:15. My contractions came hard and strong for an hour and a half, so I asked our nurse to check me and turn the pit down. I was only at a 4! I was soooo disappointed. We asked for a dose of fyentanol. Within the min I was able to settle down into a groove. Within 45 min I was at a 10 and Dr. said, "push! but wait till I get in my scrubs)... of course I didn't wait and he almost didn't make it back in time. I gave a push and out Terry came! He was so easy compared to Savannah (Well I labored easier with her, but he was so small compared to her it seemed like he just slipped out). He was here! A handsome 6 lbs 6 oz and 19 inches long! (My mom, brother and his girlfriend Heather missed it by 10 min ) We decided on the name Terrance Robert after our own fathers, two of our favorite heroes in the world.
We stayed at the hospital for the 24 hours and then got to come home. Thanks to everyone that watched Savannah while we were there!
Terry is such a good baby so far. He eats pretty well and sleeps like a rock. Savannah can't make up her mind if she likes him or not. She's been so good with him and likes to talk about how tiny he is. But whenever someone asks her if she has a new brother she says 'Nope, I don't like to have one.'
We are going to be moving on Tuesday. Our stuff is already packed, moved and unpacked in Tooele, so we just have to load up and go! Thanks for sharing this special time with us! We'll keep the pictures and posts comin'!

So the other day Kim & I were listening to songs on YouTube: "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, "Simple Man" by Lynard Skynard, "Civil War" by Guns 'N Roses, etc, etc. We asked each other what song we should search for next and Savannah interjects, "Let's listen to Heavenly Father."
We quickly realized all those old rock songs probably weren't the best for Savannah or us to be listening to, so we looked up "Heavenly Father loves me" and we were all happy ever after.

Birthday Parties and Trouble!

As promised here are the pictures of our fun 4 day straight birthday bash. We celebrated 4 birthdays in 4 days. Tradition in our house is you get to pick your birthday dinner and dessert. Above is my Grandma Dean, She's been sick with cancer and was in the rehab center on her b-day which was Jan 6th. We had chocolate cake and chocolate frosting... She looks great for 85 eh?!? What a sweet and special lady.

Here is Grandma Buhr! She came with us and was the only one who actually celebrated on hr b-day this weekend. Her's is the 17th of Jan and turned 79! We ate German Chocolate cake for her birthday and a huge turkey dinner! Delicious! I think she was not ready for the picture, but Happy birthday Grandma Buhr!

Then my sweet Dad came next! We always have a combine party (me and my dad) Because his birthday is the 14th of Feb and mine the 12th. But because I'm due with our little boy on my birthday we decided to get our party in, just in case I'm laboring and can't party hearty. So here he is pictured with his carrot cake with pecan cream cheese frosting. We ate clam sauce spagetti for his dinner and it was goooood! I sure love this man!

And here's me... with my amazing, delectable, envied, fabulousmamas mississippi mud fudge pecan pie! Savannah wanted so badly to blow out my candles, so I told her she could. Then when the b-day song was done she said "I'm gonna blow out your candles with my nose!" It was cute. I had my favorite meal of Frito pie and it was a success again! I don't feel 24 (but I guess I'm really not for another month) Haha if I have my baby early or late, I'll get to party again!

And here's the picture of trouble. Please click on it and blow it up you'll be able to see the whole tub of Vaseline all over her face/ hair/ clothes (and my parents couch which isn't shown here, sorry mom and dad) She did this last time we came, but with my g-ma Deans vicks-vapo rub... yeah.

A miracle!

I don't know how you thank an anonymous person. Our little family got a miracle this week, arriving in the mail. It was such a faith building experience that Heavenly Father knows Kim Thomas's needs. This gift was exactly what we needed and had fasted for not days prior. It came with no return address and I don't even know who to start thanking. I just appreciate that some one was listening to the spirit and followed it. How random that we would have a need in our family, fast and pray for it and on Tuesday it would come to us. I opened it and cried because I know that God hears our prayers though sometimes it feels we pray in vain. I hope that I can be in tune enough to answer the prayers of others. For it's been such a blessing to us. My testimony to every one who reads our blog is God lives and he loves us!

A classis 'christmas story'

For those of you who have seen the Christmas Story, Savannah pulled a classic, stick your tongue to a freezing steel work bench in 8 degree weather. It was super sad. She pulled and cried till we could get a cup of water to get her off. A long chunk of her flesh was missing and it bruised the next day. Ouch! She shows every her tongue and says, "I got it stuck to the hot snow out side, and I cried." Ahhh Any one else got stuck on something? I'd love to hear about it!

A big congrats to my sister Jen and her husband Allen! They were blessed with a new baby girl last night at about 8:15 (Japan time)! She had a c-section with her first daughter Audrey, but this baby she was able to deliver on her own! She's so pleased! The baby was 8 lbs 2 oz and 22 inches! So she tore a bit, but compared to a c-section, her recovery will be much quicker! They named her Hydee Rogers. Jen says her hair is brown, red, blonde. My mom is out there and gets to stay till Jan 1st. What a blessing and help (for Jen and for my mom both!) There will be more to come and pictures soon I hope. I don't know when they get to come home but we'll keep you updated. You can check out my blog, Jens or my mom's for updates!

Another Catch up and Pics!

OK you have to imagine these in reverse order for correct chronological order. But we celebrated Christmas with my side of the family this last Friday the 11 cause my mom has left the country to be in Japan with my sister while she has her second baby girl. I love Christmas, but this year has just been so wonderful! I'll go ahead and sub caption the pictures and let them tell the story! Love love love!

We got to decorate our Christmas tree yesterday! It was a blast, Savannah picked out the tree and helped put on (as well as take off most of the stuff! ) I haven't had a real tree since I graduated high school and was living at home. Yum it smells good! I hope every one's holidays are merry and bright! Now for a little catch up, as President Monson said at the Christmas Devotional "time flies as on wings of lightening"
We got to celebrate Thanksgiving with both of our families it was wonderful! December came and we thought my sister Jen was going to have a baby, but she's still holding out! Then the snow started to come and it was feeling more and more like Christmas! I have had spiritual experience after spiritual experience this month which has been up lifting and draining all at the same time! God always knows what we need! Now will the house decorated for Christmas and only 17 or so days to go I'm getting the wiggles!
Jimmy and I took our Prenatal refresher class at the hospital. One can't help but marvel at the whole miracle! Visitors are way restricted, I can have one guest the whole stay at the hospital and Jimmy counts as a guest. So sorry any one that wanted to come, you'll just have to wait till we're home! Not even Savannah can come cause no one under 14 can be in the Hospital. Crazy huh?!?
On a more hilarious note for Jimmy and I's date this week we went to see Jason Hewlett! It was so funny I thought I was going to pee my pants! He's and entertainer that does the most amazing impressions. I was super impressed at his talents and if you need a laugh youtube his stuff. Here's a sample! Jasons Hewlett The best thing was that I got to share it with my sweet husband, best friend, eternal companion and number one fan! It's good to see him laugh so hard!

As many of you know, my sweet Grandma Dean is was diagnosed with cancer in Oct. She has been going in for radiation treatments. On her last day of treatments they decided to keep her hospitalized. She had a yeast infection in her mouth that was spreading to her throat and stomach. She was deficient of potassium, calcium and was dehydrated. She had also lost a lot of weight during her treatments. Jimmy and I have come down to Tooele for my side of the families thanksgiving, and decided to go see Grandma. My mom said that we might be surprised at Grandmas condition, looks and general alertness and that she may not know who we are.
When we got there my mom took me up to see G-ma while Jimmy waited with Savannah (no one under 14 is allowed to visit). I got up to g-mas room and have never seen her looking so old. She just looked tired and thin. I was glad that she was sleeping cause I didn't think I could be brave for her. After talking to my mom about all the equipt. G-ma woke up! She couldn't' hear very well but she knew who I was and asked where Savannah was... She laid and rested for a bit and I just held her hand. I cried holding this sweet ladies hand and wondered how many hundreds of hours of service her hands have done.
Just then my baby started kicking inside me and I took grandmas hand and let her feel it moving. She got a giggle out of that and told that she was glad she had what ever she had and wasn't in the hospital because she was in labor. I couldn't help but think if G-ma and our baby boys will cross paths in this life or the next.
While I was wondering, a knock came at the door and there was a delivery for a Mrs. Dean, it was a large poinsetta plant (she loves them!) from her sister. It sure brightened her face and the room. My mom watched Savannah for a bit while me and Jimmy went to spend some time with G-ma.
It was a bitter sweet experience, but I know that I'll always be glad that we went. I told her that the next time I'd see her was at home... She said 'Yea if I don't die first!' And I said "Yep, then I'll just have to see you at our home in Heaven." And what a blessing that is, to know that we can be all together in heaven with the ones we love.
My mom does an update every few days if you know my g-ma and would like to keep up on her progress.

The last few time's I've lost Savannah I resort to searching on the tops of books shelves, counter tops, tv stands, ladders, etc. ( My mom is probable honking loudly right now, reading this, laughing out loud and saying "SERVES YOU RIGHT!!") These next pictures are taken in Grandma and Grandpa Thomas's basement where she feels right at home like on a jungle gym.

This will be a short post, but I love this time of year and reading every one's blog posts about GRATITUDE! What an ungrateful nation we've become and it's so awesome to have a time just for remembering what we have and what we have to share! I just want to take this opportunity to be grateful! I'm so thankful for the wonderful life I have. A wonderful husband, beautiful daughter, family, friends, the truth of the gospel, health, a roof over my head, food to eat, a car, so many material blessings that I couldn't list them all! On top of those I have been blessed spiritually again and again. I know that each of these blessings come from God and I thank him daily for them! Again, what an amazing life I have. May each of you have a wonderful season and realize what you have to be thankful for!

So Jimmy and I went to a party on Friday night, it was couples themed so I went as a laboring woman, and Jimmy as my Ob/Gyn Dr. Bear N. Down (haha clever, I know) It was lots of fun.
Then on Haloween we went to the Trunk or Treat here in Paradise. If you've read past posts, Savannah went as a bride. Jimmy and I went as the mother and father of the bride. (ha not so clever, I know) But we all had a lot of fun, got lots of candy, and didn't freeze our tushys off!

A while back we did a bread and jam making class for our ward enrichment. Here's my first attempt at bread knots. My Grandma Buhr is famous for bringing the rolls every Thanksgiving (and most get togethers) I asked her what we were going to do when she couldn't make rolls any more, and she said that I'd better get practicing! Ahhh, so I'm taking my journey of mastering breads!

I take Savannah to the Logan Temple to touch the Temple, walk around it, talk about it, and watch the brides and grooms come out. Then one day while at the DI looking for haloween costumes she saw this dress and said "MOM, IT'S MY TEMPLE DRESS!! RIGHT THERE!!! IT'S SO PRETTY, MY TEMPLE DRESS SO PRETTY!" Awww my heart just melted. So we got it for her to be a bride for Halloween. She's going to be a bride, Jimmy and I are going to be the 'mother and father of the bride'. She of course has to wear it at least every other day... But I don't mind it cause she sings ' I love to see the temple, I'll wear my dress today'... What a cutie!!

Speaking of her being a cutie, one morning she got up early, right? I was so tired I laid in bed while she played... Next thing I know she is going on about a spider that's on the bed. I thought she was pretending because my mom got her a creepy crawlers book all about bugs. I ignored her on goings that went something like this... 1) Mom! it's a big one! 2) It's crawling on your pillow. 3) Hey mommy you have a spider in your hair, Yeah, it's crawlin!
Now she has a great imagination, but she was talking about this spider for a long time... so I decided to get up and see what she was talking about... Good morning Mr. Brown Recluse!?!?! IN MY HAIR! Ahhh. Needless to say I swept the house of all webs and got spider traps to put up every where!

My heart's been touched

I don't really know how to express the feelings I have right now. Jimmy and I for our Family Home Evening today went to a program called Rachel's Challenge. It is a beautiful, heart wrenching, touching, eye opening and sweet program about Rachel Scott, the first victim in the Columbine High School shooting in 1999. She was an amazing girl who did her best to live the way Christ would have her live. There was story after story of how she reached out to the new kids, the special needs kids and the unpopular odd ones.
My heart ached for all the families as we watched footage of the shootings, news and after affects. I wish each of you could have been there with us. At the end the presenter asked each of us to think of the people who we love, our parents, siblings, spouses, children, friends any one that would want to know that we love them... he challenged us to tell them how much we love them and why. I just balled as each of your faces ran through my mind and it made me realize how blessed I am to have so many people to love and to love me in return. I don't want to make this long, but I want each of you to know (and so many others who won't see this) how much you mean to me. Your love, examples, testimonies, services, smiles, encouragement, tears and prayers have been so impacting in my life. I hope to be as Rachel Scott and have that impact in the lives of others. She was only 17 yet her life has touched millions. And it touched my heart today. If you get the chance to see the program 'Rachel's Challenge' Please please please go! (I think you can watch the program online at Rachelschallenge.org )If you need to be uplifted watch what you can and i hope it'll touch you as it has me.
I'd like to share one quote with you from an Essay she wrote for a class before she died.
"I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same." - She really by this and it's her challenge to the world.

Congrats to every one who voted BOY in the poll these last few weeks! Jimmy and I are so thrilled to introduce you to our little BOY! Yep that's right, we're expecting a boy early February. I'm due on the 12 (which is my birthday) but we'll see when he really feels like coming. All our apts have gone well and he was healthy and had all his parts when we went to our ultrasound this morning. I hope this finds every one well. I debated posting a picture of his manhood for all to see how proud we are that a boy is in the family. But the face picture won out. If you need extra proof please comment and I'll send it to you! :)

I LOVE FRESH GARDEN FOODS!!! Here are some of the bounties of our garden! In my ward, our Enrichment is putting on canning classes! It's been so great! I have been able to can home made salsa. We learned how to make freezer jam and how to blanch foods that we want to freeze! Still to come is apple pie filling and canning other fruits and veggies! It's been lots of fun and a learning experience. My parents canned when I was growing up, but I dreaded it and took no initiative to learn, but now it's been super and I've attended every class so far and plan to attend as many as I can! Jimmy and I have always had a garden, but this year by far has been the best. We did squash (banana and spaghetti), tomatoes, onions, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, beans, peas, and zucchini!

Holy Toledo! You know those days/ weeks that seem to go on and you have so much to do, but you find your self blogging once again? Ha I am in the middle of one of those! We are planning a one week trip back to my child hood/ camping/ family reunion. Which I much looking forward to but that means that I must... Do all my homework for this week and the next week. Oh yeah, and finals are next week, so I have to study and take those early, not to mention end of the semester papers, projects and assignments... (by today cause the university is closed for the 24th of July). Our inspection for our house is scheduled for when we're gone so I gotta have every thing in working order and spotless... I'm also the enrichment leader with a big activity coming up, calls, emails following up, etc. Our garden needs some assistance before we leave it for a week. Savannahs birthday party is going to be on Saturday with the works, on top of baby sitting 3 kids for 9 hours that day! Yikes. Did I say packing for the trip yet, and checking the car oil, gas, food, and every thing an 11 hour drive entails... Oh wait it gets better! Jimmy is at Scout camp and I get to do all these things!! Whoo-hoo with an ambitious 2 year old who's idea of helping is things like...

I wish I could get my computer to load more pictures of all her helper-abilities... Not that I'm complaining... just posing a question... we can make it, right?

LA Summit!

What a week end! I can't believe how one person can make such an impact! We went to LA for the weekend to do a builders summit for our business. It was such a great 4 days. We drove 13 hours, to get there, went to the beach for a bit. Had a ton of inspiring meetings/trainings, on Friday and Saturday and drove back 13 hours on Sunday. Things I learned that apply not just to our business, but to life in general.
*It's easy to compromise and quit, but it's hard to chart your own course and endure!
*Every day you don't move and make progress toward your ultimate goals and desires is a wasted day.
*Life will give you what you fight for, nothing more, nothing less.
*Your past does not determine your future, don't let it take your future hostage.
*No body wants to follow a negative-dull-disillusioned-dadgum-crybaby.
*A human being won't even attempt some thing they think is impossible.

Ok so I know I'm super late, but it's never to late to appreciate your mom! I was able to spend Mothers day weekend with both my mom's! I am so blessed to have a mother who has is such an amazing woman, and I can say like Abraham Lincoln, "All that I am or hope to be I owe to my angel mother" I am likewise blessed to have a wonderful mother in law, who has always been so welcoming and kind! Thanks heavens for our MOMS!

YEAH for friends! Last night I got to hang out with 2 of my favorite people in the world. We went out to pizza and did some shopping. Hoo-ray for this time of year! We were lucky enough to get 2 Easter hunts. We did one on Saturday at Uncle Tom's house with the Buhr/Ashcroft fam. Then today we went out to the Thomas Grandparents to celebrate! I wish I had our camera both days, but we only brought it to Paradise... So here are some pictures of Savannah and the cousins a hunting eggs! I hope every ones Easter was a great! I also hope that every one took some time to ponder and explain to the kiddos about the true meaning of Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Jesus Christ and it's part in the plan of salvation!

Now that we're mostly settled it's back to posting for me! I have noticed so much lately the blessings I've been given. Wasn't General Conference this last week wonderful! Ah, I came away so happy for the wonderful lives we have. The blessing it is to live in America. The blessing it is to have the true gospel of Jesus Christ, that if we live and follow it's teachings how much heart ache, stress, and misfortune is spared! Not that being memebers of the Church makes us exempt from these things, but our knowledge gives us the strength, faith and patience to endure them!

Does time get away from any one else? For all of you that said "I didn't know you were moving..." neither did I! Till 3 days before we did! So K after many challenges of getting our internet transfered, cancelled, re-done, new batteries in the camera, unpacking the cord and sitting down to do it, I'm finally able to bring you all a new post of our new place! Predictably unpredictible routine

What I mean by Savannah's inconsistent routine in reference to bed time is this...
7-8 Bath time, lotion, jammies, books.
8:30 snack time and brushing
9:30- 10 read a scripture, pray, and sing 3-5 songs.
We then turn on some soft music, say goodnight and close the door.

Now, for doing that same thing every day she sure makes is soooo different. For example, she has started a ritual arm wrestle after singing before we can leave the room. Also Jimmy and I trade off praying with her in English and Spanish. This is how our prayer went the other night:

Kim: Dear Heavenly...
Savannah: Der Henly...
Kim: Father...
Savannah: Fa'er...
Kim: We're thankful-
Savannah: FOR TODAY!
Kim: We're thankful-

She makes me laugh. Now last night she didn't want me to leave her bedroom, she spotted the balloon she got from the dentist. She cried for it so I handed it to her. She calmed instantly, so I left. We came into her room to cover her up and this is what we found...

Like I say, she so predictably unpredictable!

Who has good taste?

I've decided that Savannah has great taste in things. We don't have a washer/dryer, so we go to the laundry mat. We got home and our towels weren't quite dry, so I decided to lay them out till they were dry enough to put away. The next thing I know Savannah had gotten in the drawer, picked out her favorite highlighters and marked up my nicest white towels! Not moments later while I'm trying to clean up from her practicing her artistic talents, she mosied into the kitchen climbed up the china hutch where she so gracefully threw out a bowl and shattered it. Mind you it wasn't my cheap set, it was the beautiful bowl that my mom got us when we were younger for when I got married. Of course I can't be mad at her when she hops right down and starts saying "uh-oh, clean up, clean up, everybody!"
I must say she keeps me on my toes!
Savannah also hit a mile stone this week! She's been binki free now for 6 days now! I think both she and I have developed a twitch this week. I know it's for the better, but wow! I don't know what else to say. No more denying it

OK OK I can no longer hide, lie or pretend that I didn't have a birthday last week. Now that the blog is all back together I'd like to say thanks to every one who made my 23rd b-day a great one! My sweet husband threw me a surprise party, made my cake and dinner! It was great, I love surpirses! Also, my dad's birthday is 2 days after mine, so we usually celebrate together. We have traditions that we get to pick our dinner and dessert. For the last- I don't even know how many years- I've had frito pie and Mississippi mud fudge pie for mine and Dad has breaded chicken and lemon marangue pie. This year we threw every thing off and had something different. Though it was mostly good, we have both decided that we are going back to what we know and what mom does best! I just love being with my family and that was what made it the best! Also a huge thanks for the gifts, cards and calls! I love my birthday cause it reminds me of all the people who love me and how grateful I am for them! Enjoy the pics...

Taking Ownership

Here's the newest update from the Thomas family. Jimmy and I have been doing a business part-time (more like spare time). It's been very enjoyable, educational, profitable, and beneficial! We've decided to go ahead and do it full-time. Jimmy withdrew his application for the job he interviewed for in Centerville, put in his 2 weeks notice at the DI as a manager here in Logan, and now we're off on a new adventure of Business ownership!
The things we can now do for people blow my mind. The mission statement of our Company is to "Help Families become Properly Protected, Debt Free, and Financially Independent". It is such a great feeling to sit with people and do what's right for them 100% of the time.
The things I love most about Primerica: Credibility- we're a solid company, been in business 32 years. Integrity- we do what's honest and good for people, we have never done funky mortgages, whole life insurance, and other products that aren't right for consumers. Partnership- Jimmy and I have always wanted something we could to together. I don't send him out 40-60 hours a week so we can eek by, we do this business and I see him more than I ever have! Challenging- Being self-employed/business owners we have had to do more self improvement, change our thinking, better our people skills, learn the ins and outs, train, build, and we love a good challenge! Income Potential- There are so many people that come into this business and don't make a dime 'cause they don't work hard. What I love about this is if you work hard, it pays soooo well. I don't know what job out there where you can get a 200% pay raise over last years pay, and then do it again and again. Education- Like I mentioned earlier, we've learned so much since starting this business! Never in my life would I have thought that little soccer-playin' Kim would someday be appointed to do Mortgages, have her Life insurance License, and soon have her Securities License to do investments. Also, there's Home and Auto, Legal Protection and much more to learn! Plus, the personal develpment! I love that just like the Gospel, this company wants you to be the best person you can be. Fun- You know me, I can make cleaning nasty toilets fun, but doing this business really is fun to do! Giving people hope, making new friends, great incentives, being with my family, and making freedom possible! Now that sounds like fun to me!!!

Umble Bat

For those of you that haven't heard, my younger brother Pat has returned from serving an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the Arizona Phoenix mission. He has a lot of wonderful stories of the work, some funny stories of his companions, investigators and foods, and of course the scary near death experiences that all elders have. I am grateful for his example and also glad that he is home again! We got to meet him at the airport and I didn't recognize him till I was standing right next to him. It was fun to have Savannah meet him for the first time and say "HI UMBLE BAT!" She is getting better and better at saying it, but I think he'll be forever labeled Umble Bat. He has already hit the dating scene a runnin' and is looking for a job so he can take all his ladies out on dates! Finding the one

Ok so I know I'm lame, but for those of you with kids do you ever think of the future spouses of your kids? Ha we were at a wedding reception for my cousin Nikki, her new hubby's little brother was 2 years old and just the cutest thing. Wild, but cute. So I had this whole scheme to get them to dance so I could get a picture of them together. Figures that they only dance while I'm gone getting the camera. All in all we had a great time. Not really looking forward to Savannahs wedding to come too fast, yet, I know there's no way to slow time!

Sorry every one, I've noticed that the posts are slowing down and comments are sparse. Not just for me and from me but on everyone's lovely site. Jimmy and I have made a goal/competition about getting in shape. We each have made it a goal to work out at least 3 times a week. So we do a combination of running, church ball (definitely Jimmy's forte not mine!), working out in the living room, but my favorite is I've joined a co-ed soccer league that plays at the sports academy here in Logan. It's so good to be back in the saddle again! How are everyone elses 'get in shape' goals going?

Well every one, my cousin Amber just sent a beautiful poem to our e-mail and it reminded us to tell those we love how much we love and cherish them. So this post is dedicated to my sweet husband, my beautiful daughter, my wonderful parents, my siblings, neices, nephew, cousins, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and to all my amazing friends. I love you each so much, and if you could only know the hundreds of times you've touched my life, lifted me up, brought a smile, or the millions of other blessings you've given me! What a gift you are to me (hence the bow on Savannahs head). I want each of you to know, and I hope that those who don' tget a chance to read this know, that I am grateful for you and my God bless you the way he's blessed me! Hail the conquering Hero

We have a graduate in the house! Congrats to my sweetie who Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts- Spanish and Latin American studies from Utah State University yesterday! A lot of hard work, late nights, homework, checklists, tests, readings, finals, and not to mention $! I'm so proud of him. Thanks to every one who sent gifts and came to spend that special day with us yesterday. Good luck to each of you who are working towards graduating (such as myself)!

Let it snow!

Hooray! It snowed today for the first time this year. (besides that one snow that killed my garden in october). So we all went out and played in the snow. Savannah loved it and didn't want to come inside! I hope that every one is having a wonderful Christmas season. On Sunday our lesson was keeping the 'spirit of Christ in Christmas, and keeping that spirit year round!' So for my comments on this post post a memory that you have, that you really felt the spirit of Christ during the Christmas season. I'll start. I remember each year in our family we'd pick a family and do the 12 days of Christmas. Where each night we'd take a treat, toys, needed items, quotes, poems, nativitys, you name it. We'd secretly leave it on their door step, knock and run! I remember one year we did this for a kid in my mom's class. This particular little boy came from a very humble family. So for his 'personal gift' we got him a hot wheel set. I was so touched when the very next day for my mom's class party he brought 2 of his new cars for the class gift exchange. What a wonderful example of giving! ( Here's me and Savannah showing off all our christmas decorations!! Thanks mom for the beautiful nativity! )

God Bless each of you and know that the best Christmas's are the ones filled with family, love, centered on Jesus. So as our economic situation allows or doesn't allow, may our gifts be simple, service, forgiveness, letters and memories that can't be taken from us! Feliz Navidad.

We had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday, I hope that each of yours was just grand as well. We were able to spend it with both sides of the family. My side on the 16 before Jen and Allen left to Japan and Parker was up. Then we went to Jimmy's side on turkey day! It was so nice to be surrounded by loved ones. The food of course was amazing, games fun, and company a blast! I give thanks to the Lord for all the love, family, friends and blessings in my life!

Baby News

We had our first appointment on Monday of this week. During our ultrasound we learned that our baby had lost it's heart beat about at about 10 weeks. It was a shock to us of course, but I also have a peace in my heart. Don't get me wrong I still have my tears, but I have found great comfort in my testimony that God is in control of all things. If it were meant to be that we had this baby he could have made a miracle happen. I know that. Also we have found words of comfort in the ensign. There was an article that came to my mind from when Jen miscarried... called "Easing the pain of Miscarriage". I needed the reminder that this was Jimmy's loss also and I needed to comfort him just as much as I needed to be loved. Then before my visiting teachers even knew, they were scheduled to come the day after we found out. She had prepared Presidents Monsons "Finding Joy in the Journey" from this last conference. In it he talks about change. How most change happens subtly and slowly, though sometimes there are sudden and unexpected changes like the passing of a loved one. Change in life is such a necessary thing and we need not be upset and let the most important things pass us by, but to find joy in the journey- now. This has helped me not to get stuck on this loss that I can't change, but to get up and find joy in the cute things Savannah does. Soon she'll be to big to want to be rocked to sleep, she'll be able to make her own pancakes in the mornings, and I don't want to miss that. Thirdly and last Elder Wirthlins talk "Come what may- and Love it", in it he says "The dial on the wheel of sorrow eventually points to each of us. At one time or another, every one must experience sorrow, No one is exempt... The scriptures show examples of great and noble men and women who experienced adversity and sorrow that tried, fortified, and refined their characters. Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering and sorrow is part of our on-the-job training. These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are precisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion for others. Adversity if handled correctly can be a blessing in our lives. Wow, what powerful words.
I'd like to thank every one for their words of comfort so far and ask the Lord to bless each of you in your trials and sorrows. Remember that Jesus descended below all things and will come to our aid. He will comfort and uphold us. He will strengthen us in our weakness and fortify us in our distress. He will make weak things become strong!
